Gambling is for Vegas, Not for Legal Leads. Put the Odds in Your Favor.

Turns out, the legal sales lead game has a lot to do with gambling, but believe it or not, there is a way to put the odds in your favor and eliminate the risk.
I’m a terrible gambler. A few years ago my wife and I happened to be staying at a casino hotel in Reno for work. We were drawn in by the flashing lights and thought it would be fun to go downstairs and try our luck pretending to be high rollers.
I decided to try the gambler’s gateway drug – the slots. Immediately, I could sense two things. First, I clearly had the perfect personality to get addicted to gambling. My sense of loss was way out of proportion to the penny-slot bets, and my drive to get the money back was too strong. Second, I experienced an overwhelming dread at how fast my money could disappear. In a nutshell, I was miserable and inconsolable over my losses, and $27.50 later my gambling career was over.
You work hard to earn money for your business, and it shouldn’t feel like gambling to work with a new strategic partner, like a sales lead provider, but that’s often the reality. More business partners are found online now than in person. Handshakes and dinners are replaced by sign-up forms and emails. You don’t know the lead provider personally, and it can feel like you’re placing money in a giant slot machine. Money is going to come out of your account for each lead, and the quality of the leads is a gamble. In fact, research performed by the B2B Technology Marketing Community found 61% of the marketers they surveyed admitting that generating quality leads is their biggest challenge.
This problem is compounded by another reality of
the legal lead business.
